February Favourites

It's the end of the month and its time for the monthly favourites. I know everyone says this every month but where has this month gone?! It does not feel like almost a month ago that I went to see Taylor Swift in concert and definitely doesn't feel like new year was almost two months ago. Now onto my beauty favourites for the month of February.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Deauville (£31)   Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla (£22)
My first favourites of the month is the Nars Sheer Glow and the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I brought the foundation just before Christmas in the shade Deauville as I was in desperate need of a pale foundation for winter. The foundation is described as 'A glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage.' This foundation certainly isn't sheer and had great coverage for those awful acne scars I possess. After loving the foundation so much I picked up the concealer in the shade Vanilla. The concealer is great at hiding blemishes and under eye circles whilst not creasing, and matches great with the foundation.

Covergirl Clump Crusher ($6.99)
I picked up this mascara whilst in New York a few months back and I'm glad I did. It does exactly as it describes giving my lashes plenty of volume and length with no clumps. I'm going to be truly upset when this runs out as I won't be able to repurchase until I go back to the US.

NYX Butter Gloss in the shade Apple Strudel (£5)  Mac Pro Longwear Lipglass in the shade Next Fad (£17.50)
These lip glosses are my definite favourite lip products this month. The NYX butter gloss in Apple Strudel is a wonderful peachy colour that looks great over most lipsticks or bare lips. It's smooth, buttery formula has eliminated the need for a lip balm.  The Mac pro longwear lipglass in the shade Next Fad really does live up to the claim of lasting for up to six hours, I found that it lasts around four-five hours on me even whilst drinking and eating. However this gloss is quite sticky so if you don't like sticky glosses then this isn't for you.

Berber Oil Hair Treatment (£9.60) Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash (£13.99)

My last two favourites this month have been the Berber Oil hair treatment and my beloved Tangle Teezer. This hair oil is by far the best I've used by leaving my hair silky soft and reducing frizz. Since purchasing my Tangle Teezer about six months ago I refuse to use anything else, this brush is great at combing out knots and distributing product evenly through my hair.

What were you favourites this month?

Tanya Burr's Lips and Nails First Impression

When Tanya Burr released her lip gloss and nail polish collection I couldn't help but pick up a few of the items. The range is available at Feel Unique and Superdrug now.
Tanya Burr nail polish In Mini Marshmallows and lip gloss in Just Peachy
Tanya Burr Nail Polish  in Mini Marshmallows (£5.99)
This colour is absolutely gorgeous and applies really nicely. Although it took three coats to get it fully opaque I'm very impressed with the formula and definitely want more colours from the range. At £5.99 these are a great price and how cute is that bottle? I love the simple square packing that resembles Nars nail polishes and Tanya's signature on the bottle is lovely.

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Just Peachy (£6.99)
I'm going to start off by saying this lip gloss smells exactly like strawberry laces! The wide colour range of these glosses are a lovely selection with a colour for everyone. The colour I got is Just Peachy and is a wonderful natural peach shade, the formula of this gloss is smooth and does not have any stickiness to it which I love. Definitely need to pick up some more shades from the range.

Have you got anything from Tanya's range?
Let me know what you think

Ciate Velvet Manicure in Mink Cashmere Review

When Ciate were having their January sale a few weeks ago I couldn't resist picking up the velvet manicure kit for only £5! I got the colours Mink Cashmere and Blue Suede. Being a fan of Ciate and the Caviar kits I had high hopes for this kit.

Ciate Velvet Manicure Kit in Mink Cashmere (£14)
The packaging is the same as all the wow kits, I find these really compact and easy to store. The little tray they provide to catch excess product is really handy.

The first down side of the product is the velvet container. The container is small and compact but after using the product there is no way to put the excess velvet back into the container fully due to the little holes at the top, instead it just sits in the lid and falls out if you open the lid leading to mess everywhere. It is impossible to take the black lid off resulting in me cracking the plastic container (hence the crack and the sellotape line you can just about see in the picture above).

The results of the manicure weren't that impressive either. The nails that worked had a soft velvet effect but many nails didn't work out with the effect not looking very cool, more like I had painted my nails and smudged them leaving marks on the nails. The velvet that did stick to the nails picked up stains really easy with anything that I got on my hands, making them look grubby and disgusting. I'd imagine this is because of the light colour and may not happen on the darker shades. On the plus side these nails lasted around 3 days before chipping which is great for someone like me that tends to chip my nails a couple of hours after painting them.
I'm really disappointed by this kit and don't think I will be using it again. Sorry Ciate but you've got this one very wrong.

Have you used the Ciate Velvet Manicure Kit before?
What was your experience?

Glossybox February 2014 *Valentine Edition*

When I came home from work on Saturday I was super excited to see my Glossybox had been delivered.  Delivery was extra quick this month which was a real treat compared to the past couple of months where delivery seems to have taken forever. This months Glossybox is the February Valentines day edition.
Glossybox February 2014 (£10 a month plus £2.95 p+p)
The box itself this month is perfect for the theme, I love the one off box designs. This is a Glossybox I'll definitely be reusing in the near future.

NV Chunky Lip Crayon in shade Sugar Rush (£5 FULL SIZED PRODUCT)
This is a lovely frosty pink that looks gorgeous on the lips, it applies smoothly and feels really moisturising. It might just be one of my new favourite lip products and at £5 it can't get any better.

Ciate London Paint Pot in shade Red Hot Chilli (£9 FULL SIZE PRODUCT)
I own many Ciate nail polishes (thanks to the mini mani month and various wow kits). I really like the formula of these polishes and this polish is no exception. This is a gorgeous red orange colour and becomes opaque in almost one coat.

Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara in waterproof (£8.99 FULL SIZE PRODUCT)
Personally I don't like wearing waterproof mascara on a day to day basis so I'll be saving this one for the summer, however I love all the other Maybelline mascaras so I'm excited to try this one. The concept of two different brushes for your upper and lower lashes is intriguing and I wish summer would hurry up so I can use this bad boy. The Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara is currently on offer for £6.99 in Boots at the moment.

Giovanni Ultra-Moist and Ultra-Sleek Range (prices vary)
Never heard of this brand before but it sounds interesting and can't wait to give them a try (Isn't that what Glossybox is all about?)

Nougat London Sparkling Body Shimmer 100ml sample size (£14 for 250ml)
Reminds me of something I used to use when I was little. Not overly excited by this product but I'm sure it will look lovely on a night out. Hopefully I'll get some use out of the product.

Lindt Lindor Treat Bar  (79p per bar available at most convenience stores)
A lovely little treat for later on.

Did you receive this month's Glossybox?
What did you think?
